Competition Winners

Read the previous winning entries for the "Win Your Dream Wedding Dress" Competition:

Winners - Naomi and Travis, Perth, Western Australia.

April 5th 2011: My mum had entered us into a competition on Perth radio station 92.9 for their version of the Royalish Wedding (Kate & William). We went in for an interview on the Monday and the organiser seperated both of us and she asked me why we were not engaged yet. I told her that not through lack of trying on my part, and that we have been together for 6 years and have 2 gorgeous little boys together. After having a chat we went home and got a call saying we were one of the finalists in the competition. We had to be on the radio on the Tuesday, 5th April at 5am in the morning. When we were sitting there in the booth with the radio presenters he then proposes live on radio. It was the biggest shock of my life! Something I had been waiting for the last 6 years. He even told me that he and my mum had organised a ring that he had designed which he was still waiting to arrive. I was so happy and speechless. I have attached the link so you can witness our wonderful proposal - something I will never forget. Love him to bits!

Winners - Dannii Wickham & Dane Keevers, Victoria.

Dane and I were in the middle of our trip of a lifetime around outback Australia when the question was popped. The location was at Kings Creek Cattle Station (10kms away from Kings Canyon, NT). We camped there for a few nights and then on the 4th June 2010, we spent 4 hours quad biking through the sand dunes (which was awesome fun) with Chris, one of the station workers. He asked me if I minded going for a longer ride. I said no, as I was having a great time and completely unaware of what was about to unfold... We were about 5kms away from the station now. We hit a steep climb on the bikes, then arrived at a plateau looking out at desert bush for miles. There was a table set up with old kerosine runway candles lighting the walkway, a hug bonfire, and a double swag next to it. I saw everything set up, then burst into tears - it was unblievable. We parked, got off the quad bikes. Dane gave me a bunch of native flowers he had picked and we had some drinks. We were told that we were to enjoy a 3 course meal cooked by Chris (secret organiser, head of quad biking and chef!) He and Dane had this planned since January! We had dinner, then Chris left... and as the sun set, in front of the fire and pink and blue skies, Dane got down on one knee and proposed. We had a beautiful night under the stars, both unbelievably happy. The next morning, we rode our quad bikes back down to a reception of applause of the entire staff of the station. It was so love-filled and a memory I will never forget!

Winners - Nerina Jacquinta and Michael Reed, Queensland.

My fiancee had won a holiday through work as he was at the top of his class in Queensland. It was to a little island called Mautitius! On the second day of our holiday, Mike told me I had to be ready at 5pm for a function. At 5pm, our personal butler (each villa was appointed one) knocked on the door and took us through the resort down to the beach. There was a pontoon in the middel of the ocean with a dressed table and 2 chairs set up on it. The entire pontoon had candle lanterns all the way around it and it was glowing. It looked so beautiful from the beach and I commented on how devine an experience that would be. Little did I know it was all for me!! Our butler led us over to a small row boat and it was only when he told me to get in did I realise what was happening. We proceeded out to the pontoon. We enjoyed a beautiful 3 course dinner, and a bottle of Moet, which Mike had chosen after speaking to the head chef and arranging. Our butler rowed back and forth with each course to give us privacy in between courses. After dinner, I stood up and tried to take a photo of the resort as we looked back on it. I spun around to find Mike down on one knee asking for my hand in marriage!! It was so beautiful, romantic and such a devine setting! I was so excited, I nearly fell off the pontoon!! Of course I said YES! after a few tears from us both. It was such a fantastic experience and such a beautiful way to be proposed to. We are planning our wedding at the moment. It's 4 years on and a few things have changed for us. Like the fact that Mike is now a T3 paraplegic after being involved in a horrendous accident. So we have a few more issues to deal with when finding a church, reception venue etc than any ordinary couple. Our bond is as strong as ever and our love has been amplified since I nearly lost him! We look forward to the rest of our lives together andmaking it official on the 19th March 2011.

Winners - Holly Rogers and Simon Connors, Queensland.

The proposal was not unexpected so I was hopeful that when my fiance suggested a picnic to a place we used to picnic regularly, that it would be the day he finally proposed. We set up our picnic by a lake and were happily enjoying each others company and good food. It was a little windy and we noticed kookaburras sitting in the trees around us. Completely oblivious to their intentions, I go the fright of my life when one came flying straight for my lunch. The wind sent him off path and he crashed straight into my head. Thankfully, I saved my lunch. Thinking that was the worst that could happen, we went for a drive up to the look out and on our way down a particularly steep bit of road, a motorbike passed us as some speed. Less than 30 seconds later we saw him veer off into the bushes, only to realise he wasn't off roading it, he had just crashed and flown about 10 metres off his bike, through the guard rails. My fiance and I jumped out and having done first aid before, my fiance was straight on the phone and organising the ambulance and telling the man not to move. In the meantime, several other cars stopped and as it was near all the tv stations, one of them was a channel 9 news van and news reporter to assist with directions. I saw the same woman on tv a week later. So, the ambulance came and the man was taken safely to hospital, appearing to be ok. So shaken up, we made our way to the botanical gardens at the bottom of the mountain and set up our rug again. I could not believe our luck. My fiance's proposal started something along the lines of "I can't believe that just happened.." before producing the most perfect diamond ring and telling me how much he loves me and how much of an honour it would be to have me as his wife, as he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. It brought tears to my eyes. It may not have started as a romantic day, but it will certainly be a story to tell our future generations!
